When God's Timing Unfolds

This year has brought unexpected surprises. I have spent moments on the beach, in tears of frustration and discouragement, asking the Lord for direction and guidance. Then, months later, I skipped and danced on shoreline, rejoicing at God’s goodness and grace. Poured out time and time again. In His time. Not mine.

Several years ago, Nic and I tossed around the idea of moving to coastal Georgia. He looked for possible job opportunities and nothing came up. So, we decided it was most likely just meant to be a weekend getaway for us. Nothing more. But this year, when a series of difficult events unfolded with his employer, the Lord began to stir something in our hearts. Although it was stressful and challenging, we both sensed that change would soon be on the way. And boy did that change happen quickly.

After Nic accepted a position with a company in the Golden Isles, we began to prepare our hearts and pack our house for another move. In one weekend, we sold our home (after one day on the market) and put an offer in on another one. Last week, we moved and have begun settling into our new, coastal Georgia community.

For me, there are a couple of takeaways that have fueled my faith. When God’s timing unfolds, He moves fast. For years, I have prayed over specific areas in my life. Honestly, my faith has ebbed and flowed, wondering why God is taking so long to answer. Yet, the events of the past month and a half are a potent reminder that when the time is right, God will move. And His time is far superior to mine.

I’m also reminded that the Lord knows the desires of our hearts and delights in fulfilling them. We are so incredibly thankful to be in a slower-paced, small town atmosphere again. Jekyll Island is one of our favorite places on the planet and to be so close is such a gift.

If you’re in a season of struggle and difficulty, I pray you find courage in knowing that high tide always follows the low tide. You won’t be stuck in a place of discouragement forever. God sees you. He hears you. He loves you. And in His time, He will lead you into a new season. And maybe even into a new place.
