"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." - Philippians 2:3
This Scripture is a truth that I’ve been wrestling with lately. I received an email back from an agent that I hoped would be interested in representing my manuscript. Her advice was, “You need to build your social media presence.”
While I understand her perspective, I don’t like it. I wrestle with building a presence on social media. It seems like a one-sided conversation, many times fueled by selfish ambition to gain more followers or get more likes. I’d much rather build relationships in person. I cherish the spoken word as much as the written one.
I’d love to know how other writers have worked through what feels like a conundrum to me. Truthfully, I'd rather use my platform to glorify God than myself.
Hey Dawn! I struggle with this too. At the last writers conference I went to I did a mentorship program with an aquistitions editor and he really helped me to change my perspective on this.

I share about it in this blog post. I promise I'm not just trying to get you to read my blog, this wisdom just genuinely helped me, so I hope it can help you too! ❤️
