"Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters—
a pathway no one knew was there!" Psalm 77:19
This verse is filled with an incredible reminder to begin the week. God knows the path He has for us, even when we cannot imagine what lies ahead. Yesterday, in our Sunday school class, we were discussing the life of Moses. As we read through Exodus 3, verse 11 jumped off the page. When God reveals part of His plan to Moses, Moses response is, “Who am I?” Have you ever experienced similar feelings? I have, for sure.
I received an email on Friday from the editor of my devotional stating that it’s fully edited and moving onto the next phase, which includes hammering down a title, and production of cover art. Cue confetti toss!
Yet, throughout the entire process of writing this project and even receiving that email, I have often wondered, “Who am I” to undertake such a work? But God. He knows who I am, all of my flaws and failures, all of my missteps and mistakes, and yet He still calls me His daughter, and carves out paths for me to walk on as I follow Him.
When a barefooted Moses stood before the awe-inspiring bush, He couldn’t imagine that in the not-so-distant future, God would part the sea for Him. But He did. We can find tremendous encouragement in knowing that God makes a way, even where there seems to be no way. The Waymaker who carved a path through the water for Moses and the Israelites is still making a way for His children today.
Perhaps you’re struggling with what’s next. Or maybe you feel stuck. I pray that you will be encouraged by trusting that God can and will lead you down new paths that you cannot even begin to perceive or imagine. Let’s resolve to cling tightly to Him and trust that He still creates path that no one even knows is there!
